It all begins with an idea
We are excited to announce that we are installing a fibre processing mill designed to process raw fleece from other growers (and other animals), turning it into beautiful, usable fibre while honouring the journey from paddock to finished piece. Because wool deserves respect. Because makers deserve materials with soul. Because every fleece has a story worth preserving.
The Mill has been the dream at the heart of Riverdance Farm for years — the reason we moved, the engine that will turn raw fibre into possibilities for makers and growers alike.
Whether it’s a 1 kg batch or larger, we’ll handle each fleece with care. Every step — skirting, washing, carding, drafting, spinning — is done thoughtfully and without waste. The process is as much about craft as it is about connection: growers seeing their fibre transformed, makers receiving a product that carries the life and character of the animals it came from.
As The Isle Mill grows, we’ll share the journey: the shed taking shape, machinery arriving, the first runs of yarn, and the moment the first true Riverdance skein is born.
When we open our doors, the Mill will be a space for growers to process fibre for their own use or micro-enterprises, for makers to explore and learn, and for everyone to enjoy the stories that wool can tell.
On the horizon are farm tours, hands-on workshops, weekend yarn retreats, mill tours, dyeing services — and, of course, plenty of cups of tea and long conversations about yarn.
